Shared representations: dyadic and triadic perspectives in work and training
Abstract
The use of modeling, simulation and visualization techniques in scientific and technical domains has lead to the co-existence of large diversity of external representations that, when deployed in collaborative work settings, can be designated by the term "shared representations". This contribution will focus on dyadic cognitive and triadic semiotic perspectives on the issue of interpretation and construction of shared representations. Illustrations will be given from a collaborative design game situation and implications for the design of cooperative systems will be formulated.
