Reachability-Based Approach to Design Interval State Observers

Résumé

This work aims at showing the advantage to consider the design problem of interval observers for uncertain discrete-time linear systems as a reachability problem. Based on the classical equations of the Lunenberger observer, a reachability algorithm is proposed to compute tight outer approximations of the reachable set of the system. Moreover, based on the symmetric property of interval vectors a more convenient version of this reachability algorithm is introduced. Through numerical examples, the simulation results of the proposed reachability approach are compared to those obtained by interval observers.
