Caractérisation expérimentale et numérique des transferts thermiques par impact de jets à faible nombre de Reynolds : application au refroidissement du carter de turbine basse pression d’un turboréacteur

Abstract : This PhD thesis focuses on the impingement cooling of a row of jets emerging from a perforated pipe.The low-pressure turbine casing cooling system of a turbojet engine involves this specific cooling configuration.Jet flow velocity and heat transfer are studied both experimentally and numerically. Jets are characterized by a transitional or weakly turbulent flow (1500 < Rej < 5000), and an upstream crossflow in the perforated pipe. A 5 scale test bench was developed to reproduce jet impingement in the operating conditions of an aircraft engine. Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and Infrared Thermography were performed to determine flow velocity fields and local Nusselt number distribution along the impinged plate. Jet characterization and cooling efficiency have been investigated through a parametric study of geometrical similarity parameters (injection-to-plate distance, center-to-center jet spacing) and aerodynamic similarity parameters (jet Reynolds number, upstream crossflow). The scale similarity, based on the hole diameter, has been validated with a 1 scale test bench. The numerical study is based on a large eddy simulation approach (LES) using an immersed boundary method. The numerical model validation is performed on a configuration tested experimentally. Numerical and experimental results show a very good agreement with both jet flow structure and Nusselt number distribution. Row of jets modeling leads to a vast simulation domain and a drastic increase of the computational cost. A methodology for this specific configuration modelling has been presented through the analysis of boundary conditions and mesh definition.
