Évaluation de la balance minérale osseuse à l'aide des isotopes stables et naturels du calcium et du magnésium dans les biofluides humains

Abstract : Bone mineral density can be affected by changes in Bone Mineral Balance. These changes take months or even years to be significant enough to be assessed using conventional clinical techniques. It has been shown that a very small change in urine calcium isotope ratios can reflect the onset of bone mineral balance disturbance. This innovation is rapid and non-invasive.The objective of this thesis was to discover the utility of measuring calcium and magnesium isotopes in human biofluids. Specifically, changes in calcium and magnesium isotope ratios in nutritional interventions, where two longitudinal studies were used to assess bone mineral balance and establish the relationship between calcium and magnesium isotope changes and bone metabolism and other metabolic disorders such as diabetes. The clinical applications of this emerging approach are quite broad. It can provide a valuable clinical outcome for nutritional research studies, and as a biomarker in the early detection of some diseases.
