Development of new photocatalyzed E→Z contra-thermodynamic isomerization of trisubstituted olefins
Développement de nouvelles méthodologies photocatalysées d’isomérisation E→Z d’oléfines trisubstituées
Résumé
The use of UV-visible light to promote a reaction is nowadays a popular approach. In comparison to the thermal processes, photochemistry relies on the selective excitation of a compound by absorption of light which leads to reactions initiated by radiation. Among these photochemical transformations, the E→Z isomerization of olefins is of particular interest. The work presented in this manuscript discusses new methodologies to access (Z) isomers. First, the use of a copper complex allows, by formation of a transient chromophore species, to access (Z)-cinnamates derivatives. Subsequently, the coordination of a binaphthol on vinylboranes favor the formation of a chromophore which, after irradiation, gives access to the corresponding (Z) isomers. Finally, the last part is dedicated to the perspectives considered in the laboratory for the development of new methodologies based on this work.
