Random matrix theory and applications to statistical signal processing

The topic of this thesis concerns the application of random matrix theory to statistical signal processing, and more especially to array processing and source localization in large sensors networks. In this situation, we consider K source signals impinging on an array of M antennas, and we assume that N snapshots of the received signal are available. In this work, we consider the case where both M and N are large and of the same order of magnitude, a situation in which the usual Direction of Arrival (DoA) estimators perform poorly. We propose in this context a new consistent estimator, in the asymptotic where both M,N converge to infinity at the same rate. In particular, we develop some theoretical results concerning the singular values and singular vectors of large complex gaussian matrices with non-zero mean.
