Impact de jet d’huile sur paroi tournante : application au refroidissement des machines électriques

Abstract : This experimental thesis is devoted to the study of oil jet impact cooling and finds its application in the development of electric motors for the automotive sector. As such a system has never been the subject of detailed experimental study, particularly in the case of liquids with high Prandtl numbers, two test benches were designed to study the cooling of the stator (stationary wall) and the rotor (rotating wall) respectively. An infrared thermography method, coupled with an inverse method, was developed to determine the distribution of convective exchanges in each configuration. These measurements were complemented by fast camera visualisations in order to characterize the nature of the flow and to better understand the heat transfer mechanisms.
