Polyoxometalate-Supported Bioinspired Catalysts : Synthesis and Catalytic Activity
In this thesis, the objective is to synthesize organic-inorganic hybrids based on POMs, which work as a source of second-sphere interaction, coupled with bioinspired complexes, mimicking active sites of metalloenzymes. First, we did synthesis the hybrid ligands, and then the coordination to metal ions. Once the hybrids are synthesized, we did then study the synergy between the POM and the metal complexes and the resulting catalytic activities. The work carried out in this thesis led to the development of new hybrids that enrich this family of POMs. Firstly, a new alkyl-iodinated platform derived from [PW11O39]7- was obtained, but its use for functionalization with amino derivatives by nucleophilic substitution was unfortunately not successful. On the other hand, functionalization of polyanions with propargyl-DPA either by “Sonogashira” coupling or by “Click” reaction led to the obtention of two DPA-bearing POM ligands, TBA4[PW11O39SnC6H4CCCH2DPA] (KSn[DPA]) and TBA3[PW11O39O{SiCH2CH2CH2N3CHCCH2DPA}2] (KSi[N3DPA]-3) . However, in the first case, no synergy between the POM and the grafted copper complex could be demonstrated. In the second case, the presence of triazole functions from the “Click” chemistry made the complexation studies a little bit more complicated and these will have to be further investigated. Finally, the direct approach from trialkoxo derivatives of DPA allowed the synthesis of a hybrid ligand TBA6[P2V3W15O62(TrisDPA)] (DV3DPA), which was further complexed with Cu(OAc)2 to obtained DV3DPACu(OAc). The latter presents interesting photophysical properties that have been used for photocatalyzed trifluoromethylation reactions.
